The world has always known the influence that Super Mario created by Nintendo had on the gaming world. Thus, it is not a surprise it ranks as one of the best games in gaming history.. However, that wonderful acclaim was to come under some serious threat by the production of Sonic and Pokemon subsequently.

The Rise of Sonic the hedgehog

Sonic was a game that was created by Yuji Naka. The main character of the game Sonic the Hedgehog is one that is quite popular today in the gaming world. However, what you probably did not know is that the game was inspired by this man.

Yuji Naka was hired by Sega which was one of the direct rivals of Nintendo during the 1980s. During that time, Nintendo seemed to be stealing the show with Super Mario consistently selling out. Thus, this prompted Sega to hold a competition within their staff in order to find the perfect game. This is how Sonic the Hedgehog came to existence.

How Sonic replaced Mario

What made this game more interesting was the approach it took. It sought to cure all the defects which the game Mario seemed to have. These would include the speed time of the game as well as the amount of time spent on each round as each stage of the game progresses. Hence, as early as 1992, Sonic would edge out Nintendo as the number one in sales in the gaming world.

Pokemon comes alive with Tajiri

We all know the game Pokemon. However, very few people know the man who was behind the game. Born in 1965, he was raised in Tokyo. His love for video games and collecting bugs would start at a very early age where he took apart piece by piece a video game. Furthermore, by his teenage years, he would forfeit classes in order to play more video games.

Start of a company and the idea of the Pokemon

In 1989, Tajiri would go on to create his own company. Taking the Nintendo Gameboy and connecting it to other consoles would soon become his success story. With bugs still rooted in his hearts, he would go on to create a game that would allow friends and other players to play and collect cards and other items. In time, this would lead to the creation of the Pokemon in 1996.

The Pokemon would later become a cartoon and grow ever more popular. It was simply a hit. Sonic and Pokemon were really games that took the gaming world by storm
